FDNY....5 In A Row

Th FDNY and NYPD squared off on Sunday, April 14th for the 40th Annual Hockey Game at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.  The NYPD took a 1-0 lead one minute into the first period with a goal by Collis (Sessa, Venticinque).  The FDNY tied it up at 7:50 in with a goal from Jim Becker (Mullan).  Later on in the period NYPD's Ryan (Sessa) scored at 13:44 to make the game 2-1.
Wes Cookingham scored 3:43 into the 2nd period from the point off a pass from Eddie Bohan.  Four minutes later Kurt Bruckbauer scored from the point from a pass from Jim Becker.  That would do it for the scoring for the second period.  NYPD had three power play opportunities and FDNY had one but no one was able to score on them.NYPD started off the 3rd period on a power play but FDNY was able to kill it off.  No more scoring for the entire 3rd period.  NYPD had its final chance at 19:39 and pulling their goalie for a 6 on 4 power play but the excellent penalty killing and strong play of goalie Shawn Mullan lead to a 3-2 FDNY victory.
This was the 5th year in a row the FDNY has won the annual hockey game bringing there final record to 23 wins, 15 losses and 2 ties.
FDNY Goalie Shawn Mullan was the teams MVP stopping 25 shots and assisting on a goal.
